As a marketing major, you’ll learn what people want, what they’ll offer up for it, and how to get them to take a desired action, like buying a product or volunteering at an event. The skills you learn with this major will allow you to help a business or organization achieve its goals.
In this major, you'll study all activities related to the promotion, sales, and distribution of good and services from producers to consumers. You'll learn about product development, pricing policies, advertising, and researching to identify the ideal buyer(s) for your company's products or services. You'll also learn how to figure out what customers want, what their needs are, and how your company can meet that demand. Students pursuing this major will gain skills in written and oral communication, creativity, persuasion, and critical thinking.
Overall employment of advertising, promotions, and marketing managers is projected to grow 6% from 2024 to 2034, faster than the average for all occupations. About 36,400 openings for advertising, promotions, and marketing managers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. **Current IU Indianapolis students no longer have to submit an application to be admitted from University College to the Kelley School of Business Undergraduate Program. You'll be notified when the admission requirements are met. To certify into the Kelley School of Business from University College, you'll need to meet one of the sets of **admission criteria. You'll be certified as soon as you meet either set of criteria.

Philanthropy is the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed by the generous donation of money to good causes. Graduates of the philanthropy major lead nonprofit and philanthropic organizations using their skills in fundraising, grant making, foundation leadership, social impact, and much more. Our graduates are leaders in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.

Projects include identifying emerging trends, as well as increasing knowledge and best practices for fund raising and philanthropy.
Policy studies combines the disciplines of government studies at all levels with leadership, nonprofit management, social science, and community development. You can also choose classes built around your specific interests, such as the environment, city government and planning, metropolitan development, or other areas.
With this major, you’ll study topics of all kinds, including the policymaking process, program evaluation, management, history, communications, and more. Students in this field of study may choose to pursue one of four concentrations: criminal justice, environmental policy, public health, and social equity. Graduates of this program often go on to law school or directly into positions in government or government relations, but many career paths are available with this degree.

Stand out as a job candidate with this major. Gain hands-on learning experience by working with real estate professionals across Indianapolis to help solve some of their challenges. This field of study is only available to students completing another primary major within the Kelley School of Business.
This co-major consists of 15 credit hours. As part of the capstone experience, you'll work with some of your peers and real estate professionals to solve real-world problems. Through this experience, you'll learn how to research, problem solve, present, and create financial models.

Certification process
Every day feels like game day for sport management graduates, who work in a wide array of exciting positions at sports organizations and venues. Become an expert in the business side of sports, and you’ll always be a major player in the game. And with 11 professional sports teams, several Olympic governing bodies, the NCAA, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway across the state's capitol, you’ll have ample opportunity to gain experiences to add to your resume.
Sport management promotes, encourages, and supports athletic participation for recreational, educational, and professional sports organizations, as well as individual and team athletic events and competitions that draw spectators. You'll learn the art of promoting, selling, and facility and event management. When you pursue this degree, you'll also earn a general business minor or certificate in this degree program.
Employment of event managers is projected to grow 7% from 2023 to 2033, faster than the average for all occupations. About 16,500 openings for meeting, convention, and event planners are projected each year, on average, over the decade. The School of Health and Human Sciences hosts a number of initiatives for students to get involved, add to their resume, and give back to the community.
LHSI is a paid internship program that places second- and third-year IU Indianapolis students in a variety of health and science workplaces to gain practical experience and skills.
Working on campus for offices such as Campus Recreation or the Office of Health and Wellness can provide great preparation for a variety of health-related careers.
