If you want to learn and study forensic science, IU Indianapolis is the perfect place. We have nationally recognized faculty in forensic chemistry and biology supported by one of the largest medical schools and one of the top law schools in the United States.
Forensic science is multidisciplinary—it involves fields such as chemistry, biology, math, psychology, physics, criminal justice, and law. Apply scientific methods and processes to criminal investigations and public matters, and learn how to use tools that allow professionals to analyze chemical, biological, and physical evidence.
This program is one of 22 accredited forensic science programs in the United States.
Employment of forensic science technicians is projected to grow 13% from 2024 to 2034, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 2,900 openings for forensic science technicians are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire ( Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2025).

The IU Indianapolis Center for Service and Learning has many service-oriented programs that allow you to work with and impact your community in endless ways.
If you are interested or have experience in woodworking, this may be the major for you. Learn to design, build, and make unique pieces of furniture using both traditional and contemporary tools and processes.
Woodworking is the foundation for Herron’s furniture design program. Students in this program will have the chance to participate in furniture design workshops, symposiums, conferences, and national design competitions.
Overall employment of craft and fine artists is projected to show little or no change from 2024 to 2034. Despite limited employment growth, about 4,400 openings for craft and fine artists are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Herron's study abroad programs are a powerful way to discover the historical impact of art and design in the world and over time while making memorable friendships.
Use a foundation in biology, chemistry, physics, and math to understand earth systems and processes. Learn how earth sciences are applied and how they relate to modern society. Students pursuing this degree can earn a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science.
Geology includes the study of interrelationships in the modern environment, such as important concerns about how our global environment and climate are changing and how these changes will affect human activities. Students pursuing this major can choose to study earth material (rocks, sediment, soil, petroleum), water (oceans, groundwater, water quality), or the atmosphere (climate change, air quality). Many students in this major conduct research with faculty as part of their degree.
Employment of geoscientists is projected to grow 3% from 2024 to 2034, about as fast as the average for all occupations. About 2,000 openings for geoscientists are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Learn to manage electronic health records, analyze health information, ensure patient privacy, and educate medical teams on best practices and new developments to assist them with patient care. In the age of technology, health information management (HIM) professionals are an essential part of the health care world. Professional experience is built into the curriculum at IU Indianapolis, and you will be able to sit for a national Registered Health Information Administrator credentialing exam upon graduation. To understand where we’re going, you have to look back. Those who major in history do just that, helping lead the way as we look toward the future. In this program, you’ll learn from nationally and internationally recognized experts and gain experience in conducting research, curating exhibitions, authoring publications, and more.
The Department of History is committed to quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department offers a variety of options for undergraduate majors and minors in history for students who need history classes for their own majors and for those who are looking for interesting electives.
The department is proud of its close working relationships with other programs on campus, including the Museum Studies Program; the National Council on Public History; the Center for American Studies; the Africana Studies Program; and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program.
Those working toward a history major may choose one of three concentrations to pursue: U.S. history, European history, and African/Asian/Latin American history.
